​Effective October 1, 2017 we will no longer
do load pull offs.


 Note: We do not provide trash pickup services.  Please contact a licensed solid waste hauler in your area.
 
Yard Waste must be separated from all other waste streams per Senate Bill 530 and is charged as a separate fee.

         All loads must be tied down, tarped or       secured or an additional $25 fee will be charged.
  This will be strictly enforced as of June 5, 2017
HOUSEHOLD HAZAROUS WASTE
BY APPOINT​MENT ONLY

The  HHW facility is located within the Resource Recovery Park, at 2101 SE Hamblen Rd.

Only HHW from  HOUSEHOLDS will be accepted.  No materials from businesses, churches, etc. can be accepted.

The HHW facility is operated on the following schedule:

Monthly:  3rd Wednesday from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

April through November:  1st Saturday each month from 
   7:00 am - Noon.   NOTE THAT THE SEPTEMBER 
   EVENT  WILL BE HELD ON THE SECOND SATURDAY
   (SEPT 9, 2017) SO YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR LABOR 
   DAY  WEEKEND!
 
Appointments must be scheduled; and will be on a first come first serve basis.  Appointments are limited.
 
100 lb weight limit HHW per appointment, per day.
 
$50 fee for residents of non participating communities.  For more information on participating communities please see below or go to www.recyclespot.org.
 
Staff reserves the right to inspect and refuse any materials not labeled, or deemed unacceptable.
 
HHW will not be allowed without an appointment.

Residents of participating MARC Communities may use the Kansas City Facility located at 4707 Deramus St., Kansas City, MO 64120

Acceptable materials include:

Wednesdays:  100 lb. limit per person/vehicle
  • Paint:latex paint, oil-based paint, stains, thinner, mineral spirits, spray paint
  • Automotive fluids:transmission fluid, antifreeze
  • Light bulbs:fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
  • Rechargeable batteries (small AAA-D size for power tools)
  • Propane canisters:less than 1 lb. WITH labels
  • Automotive batteries

Saturdays:  100 lb. limit per person/vehicle
    Everything that is acceptable on Wednesdays plus:
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Cleaning compounds and fluids
  • Mercury containing devices
  • Gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene

The following is not allowed ever:
  • Commercial waste
  • Empty or leaking containers
  • Wax products
  • Cooking oil 
  • Electronics
  • Asbestos
  • Explosives (including ammunition)
  • Medical waste or syringes
  • Radioactive material
  • PCB waste

STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO INSPECT AND REFUSE ANY MATERIALS NOT LABELED OR DEEMED UNACCEPTABLE

Unincorporated county membership in the Regional HHW Collection Program allows residents of communities with populations less than 500 to access program services at no charge.

*In Clay County this includes residents of Avondale, Birmingham, Holt, Missouri City, Mosby, Oaks, Oak View, Oakwood, Oakwood Park,       Prathersville and Randolph, 

*In Jackson County this includes residents of  Levasy, Riverbend, Sibley and Unity Village.

*In Platte County this includes residents of Farley, Ferrelview, Houston Lake, Iatan, Northmoor, Platte Woods, Ridgely and Tracy.
